Before joining Sprout I was lucky enough to take a short career break which helped me re-focus on what is important to me and push re-set on my own work-life balance. Now, I’m the one behind the scenes supporting the Sprout leadership team to drive the business forward to be the best we can. No day is ever the same and with the way we think and strategise it will never be, this is what I love!
My career has been a diverse one, it has included 14 years in recruitment (agency and in-house), a fair few years in the media industry where my focus was on customers and my team, recruiting and retaining talent was just part of the job. Teamed with growing up with my parent's running a small hotel, where working in the family business from a young age was just a given. I was a bit of everything; receptionist, chambermaid and waitress, anything to help out! So, as you can tell people have always been in my DNA.
Ok – deep breath – I’m a pom. However, having been in NZ since 2007 I definitely consider myself a Kiwi. I am a mum of two small people and one fur-baby (Milly), along with being the other half to Martin… this crew is my world.
My why…well, it’s being part of something that makes an impact, and me playing my part within it. Being inspired by those I interact with every day is super important to me. It’s a completely beautiful realisation that I’m inspired by my Sprout colleagues, the business owners we work with and the connections Sprout has with amazingly talented people every single day.
Outside of work, I’ll be with family and our far-reaching Whanau, made up of an awesome group of humans we are fortunate to have in our life. I try to spend time supporting the school that my girls attend and I am involved in a number of community projects and groups on the shore. I persist with training my furbaby (Milly), continuing to be the naughty ones at dog training each week, showing others how 'not' to do advanced obedience!
Like any part-time working parent, I am juggling a few things, this includes but is not exclusive to; being a social secretary for playdates, taxi duties to trampolining club and clay classes, overworked in-house entertainer, disgruntled cleaner, referee and general peacekeeper, supporter and morale booster to name just a few! In saying that I wouldn’t change it for the world.
